Arriving in Croydon Road at the beginning of this summer, Kenley Financial is owned and managed by business partners Jerry Connor and Steve Aish.

Caterham Valley For You caught up with Jerry recently to find out more

What brought you to Caterham?
I live in Caterham Valley and Steve and I have been wanting to move the business here for years. There’s plenty to do, vibrant shops and good watering holes. We were waiting for the right office and this suits us down to the ground – it’s the former Rayners Estate Agents’ premises. As well as the frontage, it has a private office space where we hold meetings.

Tell us about the business!
We’re an independent financial advice company which has been trading for over 20 years, offering comprehensive planning services for investment, pension and protection needs. We’re both qualified to a high level to advise on all aspects of financial life, but we particularly specialise in helping families manage their money and have many multi-generational clients – grandmothers, their children, and their children’s children.

Give us an idea of why someone may come to see Kenley Financial
There are all sorts of reasons, but a good example is someone approaching or starting retirement. One client had 17 different pension pots and was surrounded by bits of paper. We helped him navigate through it all and consolidate the various elements, so that he had a clear plan, leaving him confident to enjoy his retirement.

So would you say yours is a very individual approach?
Definitely! We’re a small business which offers a personal yet highly professional service no matter the size of the portfolio, and our clients appreciate that. And last but not least – where do you head for lunch?
When people come to see us – fund groups or asset managers – my lunch place of choice is Casa Lola. It’s hard to choose a favourite dish but the garlic and chilli prawns are fantastic!
