The Caterham Valley Amateur Photography Competition invites amateur photographers, within the CR3, CR5 and CR6 postcodes, to embark on an individual visual journey. Get ready to unleash your creativity, immersing yourself in capturing the best of Caterham Valley, and have your talent recognised in this inaugural photography event.
Our town is a treasure trove of wonders, architectural and historical gems and vibrant communities. Through the lens of your camera, you have the chance to highlight hidden beauty and fascinating stories that lie within. This photography competition encourages participants to explore five categories, each capturing a unique aspect of Caterham Valleys spirit; there’s bound to be a category to ignite your passion and creative vision!
The categories are:
Youth – A special platform exclusively for young photographers and next generation storytellers, aged 16 and under, to express their unique perspectives and unleash their creativity
People and Portraits – Celebrate the diversity and spirit of Caterham Valley’s people through compelling portraits and candid street photography. Share the charming narratives and connections that make our community thrive.
Night Photography – Embark on nocturnal adventures and capture the towns landmarks, streets and hidden corners illuminated by the night glow. Let your creativity shine under the moonlight.
Street Life – Take to the bustling streets and document the daily rhythm of our town. Seek out the unique characters and everyday moments that make Caterham Valley come alive.
Wildlife and Nature – Step into the wild side of Caterham Valley and showcase the flora, fauna and nature that surrounds us. From birds in flight to delicate blooms, unveil the secrets of our natural world.
Participating in the competition is as easy as one, two, three! Here’s what you need to do:
- Capture the magic: Grab your camera or smart phone, head into Caterham Valley, and let your creative eye guide you. Seek out scenes that resonate with your chosen category.
- Submit your Masterpieces: Choose up to three of your best, high-resolution images that showcase your vision and talent (file size up to 8MB). Submit them through the competition’s online form, following the submission guidelines and requirements detailed in the terms and conditions.
- Await the results: Our panel of judges will carefully evaluate each entry based on creativity, composition, originality and relevance to the chosen category. Winners will be announced in October, and the winning photo from each category will be showcased in Caterham Valley and on social media.
