Regeneration of Croydon Road in Caterham Valley
The long-awaited regeneration of the Croydon Road area of Caterham Valley is a step closer, thanks to the efforts of the town’s business community, and now the public can have their say.
During lockdown, Caterham Valley’s Business Improvement District (BID) appointed an architect to design a scheme to make the street a more pleasant place to shop and spend leisure time.
Proposals include creating a greener environment by introducing trees and plantings to screen pedestrians from the road, provide shade and impact positively on air quality. Wider pavements and seating are also included in the plan, as is a sustainable drainage system to funnel surface water into tree pits and rain gardens to address local flooding issues.
The Caterham BID has organised two online presentations of the scheme on Thursday July 16 and Saturday 18.
These events will give members of the public, and any other interested parties, an opportunity to discuss the project with the design team.
Each presentation will last around 30 minutes and there will be an opportunity to comment and ask questions. Please confirm your attendance by emailing enquiries@jonsheaff.co.uk.
