Last week we celebrated Small Business Saturday by featuring one of the many small businesses in the Valley. There is a wide variety of independent retailers around town that would welcome your support over the coming weeks, as we all prepare for Christmas and hunt down that extra special gift for our loved ones. To help you shop small and support local this festive season, we have pulled together a list of Christmas gift ideas from a range of fantastic small businesses in and around Caterham Valley.

Visit their shop next to Caterham station and admire their beautiful window displays before heading inside to discuss your Christmas flowers with the team. If you are still looking for a Wreath for your door, their handmade wreaths are stunning and start from £35.

Local independent fashion boutique, Bow Butterfly, has all the sparkles you need for the festive season. Katie and her team have a wide range of winter warmers, party pieces, handbags and accessories. Visit her Instagram account for inspiration on her latest pieces, or head in store for their expert opinions in person!
Berrington’s little elf has been hard at work this year, polishing jewellery and changing watch batteries. They stock a gorgeous selection of jewellery and watches, with silver earrings starting from £10. One of their highlights for Christmas is a Royal Air Force Red Arrows limited edition Citizen Eco-Drive watch for £695, and if you trade in any watch you can receive up to £50 off. Berringtons also offer jewellery design and remodelling. We are fortunate to have two other jewellers in the town, JJ Browns on Godstone Road and Infinity located in Church Walk who both have a wide range to gifts in store so you will be spoilt for choice.
Home Interiors
A treasure trove of home interiors and giftware, Florence Fortley stocks furniture, lighting, mirrors, wall art, wallpaper, fabrics, gifts and cards, among other items. It’s a real joy to visit and a great place to find quirky items, with regularly changing and seasonal stock.

Craft Stationers is a family run business, and have been operating for over 100 years, dealing in premium stationery, craft supplies and artist materials. From stickers to Styrofoam balls, paint brushes to painting by numbers, Shay has something to suit all budgets and art lover requirements.
The Gallery Caterham is a bespoke picture framers and art gallery, selling a variety of gifts, original paintings and limited-edition prints at affordable prices. Jodie highlighted a framed portrait of a wolf from a local artist, Karen Herbert – a beautiful original pastel selling for £350. You can see it displayed in her window display, but why not pop in and see what other delights they have in store.

Surrey Strength and Performance is located in Timber Hill Road offering small group personal training sessions, led by industry leading personal trainers, to help you get stronger, fitter, leaner and more mobile. They offer vouchers from £50 – £200 which can be used towards 1:1 or small group sessions.

Jones hairdressers is located half way down Croydon Road, and offer a range of ladies and gentlemen hair treatments from the latest colour techniques to classic cutting and big bouncy express Blowdrys. If you haven’t been in to see them yet, Pedrick’s is Caterham Valley’s first ever Zero Waste shop who were voted the Best sustainable business in Surrey in the Muddy Stiletto’s 2022 Awards. They offer plastic free alternatives to shopping at larger supermarkets and believe in supporting local suppliers. Pedrick’s has everything from eco wrapping paper and tape, Christmas tree decorations, locally made candles and a variety of beauty products, as well as a huge stock of groceries.
