Christmas in Caterham Valley
The festive season is set to jingle all the way back into Caterham Valley from November with gift markets returning, live entertainment and Father Christmas switching the lights on.
Christmas Comes to Caterham takes place on Saturday November 27, 2021, and Caterham Valley will be transformed into a winter wonderland of Christmas cheer, with several key locations making grand plans.
Visitors to Soper Hall’s Christmas Fair will find indoor and outdoor stalls, a festive tearoom, Santa’s Grotto, music from Ridge Radio and snow! Entry is £1 with free tea and coffee, and the day runs from 10am to 4pm.
Church Walk Shopping Centre, meanwhile, will come to life from 11am to 5pm with a DJ and charity stalls alongside their Christmas tree and decorations.
Croydon Road is set to be closed to traffic for the day, from 11am to 5pm, as the annual Christmas Market returns with around 48 stalls full of food, drink and gifts, a merry-go-round ride, snow globe, steel band and more.
East Surrey Museum will be joining in the festive celebrations with a day of Music at Christmas, from 10.30am to 5pm.
To complement the events, Caterham Valley shops and businesses will be getting into the spirit with Christmas window displays and artworks, and the occasional festive treat for shoppers.
“Christmas is usually a time for celebrations and catch ups with friends and family, and we’re very hopeful that we will all be able to all enjoy the occasion together this year,” says Caterham Valley For You chairman, Andrew Browne.
“We have excellent restaurants for parties and independent shops full of unique gift ideas, and we can’t wait to be a part of this year’s Christmas Comes to Caterham celebrations. It’s a fantastic opportunity to showcase our town’s wonderful community spirit.”
As the sun sets on the day, the festivities are set to culminate with Father Christmas switching on the town’s Christmas lights and spreading good cheer.
- There is free parking for Christmas Comes to Caterham at Morrisons car park, Waitrose car park and Croudace Homes at Tupwood Lane.
