Santa’s helpers letters
There will be a flurry of festive magic in Caterham Valley on Saturday December 7 when two of Santa’s helpers arrive all the way from the North Pole for an early Christmas recce.
Our enchanted visitors, a junior elf called Jack Jingle and a festive fairy named Holly Berry, will be in Caterham Valley to collect little ones’ letters to Father Christmas (download yours here) – with every single child promised a personal reply in the post.
However, they have also been tasked with checking for any naughtiness, too, and reporting back to Santa – so now is the time for everyone to be on their best behaviour!
“We can’t wait to meet all the children of Caterham and read their letters to Father Christmas!” says Holly Berry. “I just hope that Jack Jingle will be on good behaviour himself, as he has been known to be a little bit mischievous at times. Luckily, though, I will be on hand to keep him in check!”
Meet Santa’s helpers
During their tour of Caterham Valley, the pair will be stopping off at five different destinations where children can drop off their festive wish-lists (download a Letter to Santa here) – and also grab a selfie with the duo (or should that be an elfie?!).
Children can meet Holly and Jack at Time Hair and Beauty (10am to 10.45am), Sweet and Savoury Waffles (10.50am to 11.45am), Pedrick’s Zero Waste Shop (11.45am to 12.30pm), Shapers (1.15pm to 2pm) and Park & Bailey (2.15pm to 3pm).
“If you’re very lucky, I might even tell you one of my festive jokes,” adds Jack Jingle. “For example, heard the one about Santa’s helper keeping all the presents? It’s because he was a little bit elfish…”
Also on their travels, our festive friends will also be hoping to find a gift for Father Christmas himself – and, here in Caterham Valley, they will certainly be spoilt for choice.
From a new woolly jumper to a bottle of brandy to a puncture kit for the sleigh, they are sure to find something that fits the bill. Keep an eye out for Caterham Christmas Cracker offers and events throughout the festive season.
On Saturday December 7, you’ll also find Caterham Valley’s Pop Up Food & Drink Market at Church Walk Shopping Centre from 9.30am until 3.30pm.
Church Walk Shopping Centre will also be hosting a free story-telling and craft workshop on Saturday December 7 and Sunday December 8, 11am to 4pm, where children can create their own Christmas baubles to take home.
